PWS AWARENESS STORIES
Zak Bassel, age three who has PWS, is poster child for YAI’s Central
Park Challenge in New York City. This 50th anniversary event will be on May
31st. Zak was chosen to help exemplify who benefits from the services this
organization provides. You can see a public service announcement with Zak and
his parents at
http://yai.convio.net/site/PageServer?pagename=Videos08cpc, where they
mention PWS. YAI will also include Zak with information about PWS in their
newsletter articles about Zak. You can see Zak on the YAI website at
www.yai.org/cpc.
Zak’s dad, Jamie, shared that his family will be ringing the bell for the New
York Stock Exchange on May 30th. They may even appear on The Today Show or The
Early Morning show in that week, but it’s not yet definite.
Nina Roberto in NY wrote to her Assemblyman regarding a Resolution. It
was approved, thus May is officially considered as PWS Awareness Month in the
entire state of NY! Very exciting!
Nina also made a video and put it on YouTube. You can view it at
http://youtube.com/watch?v=IpmSjDoLKRM.
Jenn Jones wrote: I just wanted to tell everyone that a story about
our little Gavin will be published in the May 10th issue of “The War Cry,”, a
Salvation Army national publication. They weren't aware when they assigned the
story that May is PWS awareness month, so that is an added bonus! We're very
excited because we feel that his story will bring hope and comfort to other
families whose children have special needs.
