Dear (Superintendent of Schools/Principal),

Childhood obesity, exercise, bullying, eating disorders, and nutrition are just some of the issues that school systems must address today.  My (son/daughter), (name), is a (grade) grade student at (school). (He/She) has Prader-Willi syndrome (PWS) and must deal with these issues on a daily basis.

As May is PWS Awareness Month, a Prader-Willi Syndrome Association (USA) (PWSA (USA)) public education initiative, I am attempting to schedule seminars in our county to educate the community about PWS. These trainings could be conducted during PWS Awareness Month or any other time throughout the year.

I would like to conduct a workshop or request time during an in-service day to provide information in an effort to educate faculty and staff about the importance of these issues on kids with Prader-Willi syndrome.  This workshop could be offered to all faculty and staff or specifically targeted to the school nurses, physical education and health teachers.

I am working with PWSA (USA) to provide professional, informative and encouraging information to help our educators better understand PWS so they are better equipped to deal with situations that might arise as a result of PWS. It would also be my goal to find a way to disseminate information to students and alert educators to become aware of signs of potential problems and offer possible solutions.  This service is offered free of charge as a public service to our community.

I look forward to partnering with the school system to bring awareness to these issues and provide a better school environment for all.  I can be reached at (phone number) or by email at (email address) and can meet with you in person at your convenience.  If I do not hear from you by (date), I will plan to contact you.

Thank you for continuing to support awareness of current conditions that affect our children and for keeping our faculty up to date on current issues.

Best regards,
